How Does It Work?
The GentleYAG laser targets melanin (pigment) in the hair follicle. When the laser pulse is delivered, the melanin absorbs the energy, heating the follicle’s base and destroying the stem cells responsible for regrowth, a process known as selective photothermolysis.
Because the Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates deeper than other lasers, it’s especially effective for treating deep-rooted or coarse hair and is safe for darker complexions. Multiple sessions are required to catch hairs in their active growth phase (anagen), which is when the follicle is most vulnerable to laser treatment.
