Collagen-Stimulating Dermal Filler
- Radiesse®

Lift now. Rebuild for the future.

What It Is

Radiesse® is an injectable dermal filler made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a smooth gel carrier. Unlike hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, which primarily restore volume by attracting water, Radiesse® offers two distinct modes of action:

  1. Immediate lift and contouring from the gel carrier.

  2. Long-term collagen stimulation as the CaHA microspheres integrate with your skin and encourage fibroblasts to produce new collagen.

Radiesse® is Health Canada–approved for facial augmentation and correction of volume loss, as well as for improving the appearance of the hands.

Radiesse® vs. HA Fillers: Choosing the Right Approach

While both Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers and Radiesse® are injectable treatments used to restore volume and smooth lines, the way they work—and the results they create—are quite different.

  • Composition: HA fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule that naturally occurs in skin and binds water for soft, hydrated volume. Radiesse® is made from calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), a mineral-like substance found in bones and teeth that provides structure and stimulates new collagen production.

  • Effect in the Skin: HA fillers give an instant plump by physically filling space and attracting water. Radiesse® offers two phases of improvement—immediate lift from the gel carrier and gradual, long-term skin strengthening as collagen develops around the CaHA microspheres.

  • Ideal Uses: HA is ideal for precision work in delicate or high-movement areas like lips, tear troughs, and fine lines. Radiesse® is better suited for structural support in deeper tissues (cheeks, jawline, chin) and for improving skin quality through hyperdilution.

  • Longevity & Reversibility: HA fillers typically last 6–12 months and can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Radiesse® lasts 12–18 months or longer but is not reversible, so careful planning and conservative dosing are key.

By understanding these differences, we can choose the right filler—or combination of both—to achieve the most natural, balanced, and long-lasting results for your goals.
